A song written and recorded by a Fox Cities-turned-Nashville band, a song that’s being played regularly at some sports arenas, now has been given the Packers remix treatment.

Mike Thiel of Eric Lives Here

Just in time for the Green Bay Packers' playoff run, Eric Lives Here, fronted by Mike Thiel, released the green-and-gold-flavored remix of their “MVP” song.

The song was originally released as “Man Cave” in 2014. Two years later, Thiel and Los Angeles producer Danny Olson reworked the song into "MVP (Danny Olson Remix)," an electronic sports anthem. It was eventually licensed for and used in NBA and NHL arenas. It’s also been used of late in an ongoing promo spot for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Thiel remixed the song one more time as the Packers launched a playoff run that has them in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

He adjusted some of the vocals to pay homage to the Packers, and “MVP (Packers Remix)” was born.

“I've always wanted to have a Packers song in my repertoire,” Thiel said. “It's like joining a special club, like a badge of honor. It's fun, it's communal and it's still artistic but not overly serious.

“When I was creating each version of this song, I was working toward something fun and light that still had enough intensity to fit with what's going on inside of a sports arena. When it came to the ‘Packers Remix,’ I also added big drums and a green-and-gold chant at the intro to create a stadium feel that matches the grit of the football field.”
