Girl Scouts debuts 2 versions of new cookie: What will Arizona get?

Everyone has their favorite.

They're coming! Girl Scout cookie sales commence Monday, Jan. 23.

Maybe this year will be the year you pick a different favorite, because the Girl Scouts are debuting a new cookie flavor.

Drum roll, please.

Girl Scout S’mores!

Seems rather an obvious choice now. You know, scouting, campfires and addictive sweets. No matter.

Girl Scouts will start hawking the old favorites and the new cookie in front of grocery stores, in neighborhoods and through their parents' co-workers on Monday, Jan. 23. The cookie is a "crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling" produced by Little Brownie Bakers in Louisville, Ky. Or...

Is this the s'mores you'll get?

..."a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating" produced by ABC Bakers of Richmond, Va.

Or will you pick up a box of these?

Different, but the same. S'mores is the first addition to the Girl Scout cookie offering since since 2015. Which S'mores flavor people across the country will get depends on which bakery supplies their local troupes.

Which one will Arizona get?

In Arizona, we'll be getting the Little Brownies Bakers S'mores graham sandwich.

At least one early review puts the Arizona S'mores cookie version as the tastiest.

A New York Times food staff taste-test of the two cookies chose the sandwich cookie we'll be buying in Arizona, "for its balanced sweetness and tender, fudgelike center."

The Girl Scouts organization hasn't decided whether the S'mores flavor will be part of its permanent cookie collection.

Too bad for your 2017 diet

Did you know there's an iOS and Android app - Girl Scout Cookie Finder - to help you find your favorite cookie?

But after 100 years of Girl Scouts selling, and us consuming, cookies, we can count on one thing: The crunchy confections will tank our 2017 diet plans.

Could this be the year that the top-selling Samoas and Thin Mints — even better refrigerated! — make room at the top for a new fave?

Or will S'mores go the way of other new cookies like the Pecanettes, a chocolate-chip cookie with crunchy pecan?

Too early to say, as the Girl Scouts cooking-selling season runs through March.

When the cookies arrive in your neighborhood next week, you can find a location with the free Girl Scout Cookie Finder app for iOS or Android phone or mobile device.

Cookie prices and brand availability are set by local Girl Scout councils.
