NFL divisional play leaves bookmakers reeling

Spare a tear for Las Vegas bookies? Well, they really had a rough weekend, according to CBSsports.com's Larry Hartstein.

William Hill's 108 Nevada sportsbooks lost "seven figures" as underdog Packers and Steelers prevailed in NFL divisional games this weekend.

The Packers defeated the Cowboys 34-31 where 90 percent of the money-line action was on Green Bay. Those bettors reaped 2-to-1 payouts while the game vaulted the 52.5 over/under, Hartstein reported.

The public cashed with the Falcons (-5) and the over 52 and the Patriots (-15.5) and the over 44.5, which made the bookmakers really needing a Chiefs victory Sunday over the Steelers to avoid all parlay and teaser liability from the first three games.

The Steelers won 18-16.

The latest blow comes on the heels of Clemson's 35-31 upset of Alabama, which cost William Hill seven figures and MGM six figures. Ouch.
