Confirmation hearings ahead of Inauguration

The Senate will hold hearings this week for President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees to run departments with strong ties to agriculture.

On Wednesday, Trump’s pick to head the EPA, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, will have his confirmation hearing before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.  Last week nearly 40 livestock groups sent a letter to the EPW in strong support of Pruitt’s nomination.

The Senate will also hold its hearings for the President-elect’s picks to run the Department of the Interior – Representative Ryan Zinke of Montana on Tuesday on Tuesday and for the Commerce Department – Wilbur Ross on Wednesday.

Trump still has not announced his pick for Secretary of Agriculture.  But, Sunday morning Vice President-elect Mike Pence did tell Fox News the President-elect would probably have all of the cabinet officials named before inauguration day.

President-elect Trump will be sworn in at noon on Friday.
