Morning Buzz: Giants ready to party

Aaron Nagler
USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Welcome to your Morning Buzz, rounding up news and views regarding the Green Bay Packers from around the web and here at PackersNews.com. Grab a cup of coffee (or brew some tea, if that’s your thing) and get caught up on everything you need to know about the Packers.

Today starts with a bit of news. Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf will be interviewing with the San Francisco 49ers for their open general manager position.

And on the heels of that report came news from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the 49ers will also be interviewing Packers director of college scouting Brian Gutekunst for the same position.

It will be interesting to see what developments, if any, come from these meetings.

Ryan Wood takes a look at the path the Packers traveled while running the table.

Ryan and Michael Cohen have the latest from Lambeau, including the latest on Quinten Rollins and the Packers secondary.

Bob McGinn’s Rating the Packers column is, as always, not to be missed.

From McGinn:

Rookie free agent Geronimo Allison (played 61 of the 75 offensive snaps) has leapfrogged Jeff Janis (12) and Trevor Davis (one), and now it remains to be seen how much Randall Cobb’s playing time will decrease upon his return from an ankle injury. Allison deserves to keep playing. At 6 feet 3 ½ inches, he towers five inches above Cobb. Already Allison has learned how to scramble routes when the quarterback extends. He has demonstrated since August that, not unlike James Jones, he’s an outstanding low-ball catcher. MLB Tahir Whitehead was draped all over him in the end zone but he cradled that 10-yard TD. He’s also remarkably aware of his surroundings.

Be sure to read it all for tons of in depth analysis.

Julius Peppers stopped by our Clubhouse Live show in Appleton last night. You can see a replay of the entire show right here.

Elsewhere, it seems several of the Giants took advantage of their day off. (Side note: Can you imagine if some Packers players did this? Ted Thompson would probably faint.)

Giants players may be partying, but their coach is all business as he gets ready for a playoff showdown with his old team:

AJ Hawk joined Albert Breer at the MMQB to talk about Aaron Rodgers’ leadership:

Packers team photographer Evan Siegle got a great shot of Rodgers after Sunday night’s game.

Speaking of Sunday’s game, it was a pretty big historical milestone:

Good Morning Football has the biggest storylines heading into Wild Card Weekend:

Jordy Nelson is in some rare company these days:
