Police: Toddler left in car overnight in sub-zero cold
DENVER – A Colorado woman was arrested Saturday after her 2-year-old son was left inside a vehicle in sub-zero temperatures overnight.
Officers were called to search for a 2013 green Ford Fusion in Thornton at about 10:40 a.m. in reference to a possible accident Friday night where a mother had left a child in car.
At 12 p.m., Thornton Police found the snow-covered vehicle at a strip mall parking lot.
The toddler was found inside suffering from hypothermia and frostbite, and was taken to an area hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately known.
The boy’s mother, 26-year-old Nicole Carmon of Westminster, was arrested for investigation of felony child abuse.
Officers are still working to determine what led to the child being left in the car and how long he was left alone.
