Two Greenfield police officers were briefly hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash early Saturday afternoon.

Police said the male officers were on patrol in their vehicle when an 18-year-old Milwaukee man crossed a median and crashed into the squad car. The officers and the Milwaukee man were transferred to the hospital and released by the late afternoon.

Investigators said the officers were westbound on W. Layton Ave. near S. 45th St. at the time. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, but alcohol does not, police said. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the investigation.

One officer is a 22-year veteran of the department. The other officer has 7 years of policing experience. Police did not release the names of the officers or the Milwaukee man.
