Illinois soybean farmer to lead ASA

Illinois soybean farmer Ron Moore will lead the American Soybean Association in 2017.  He has previously held vice-chair and secretary positions on the ASA board and per the structure of the organization, the vice-president moves into the president’s role the following year.  Moore is also the past chairman of the Illinois Soybean Association.  He will represent farmers from across the country on legislative affairs and issues.

John Heisdorfer, a farmer form Keota, Iowa was elected vice-president; Davie Stephens of Wingo, Kentucky will serve a third consecutive term as secretary; Bill Gordon or Worthington, Minnesota was elected to the position of treasurer.  Richard Wilkins, who farms in Greenwood, Delaware and served as the 2016 ASA president now moves to the role of chairman.

Moore says as the organization looks to advance farmer priorities in 2017, trade and biotechnology are at the top of the list.
