Mostly good week for export inspections

The USDA reports corn, soybean, and wheat export inspections for the week ending December 1st were above what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 453,633 tons, up 208,522 from the week ending November 24th and 228,623 higher than the week ending December 3rd, 2015. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 13,568,216 tons, compared to 10,528,214 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,150,233 tons, 321,306 more than the previous week and 648,970 above this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 13,717,535 tons, compared to 7,264,186 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,910,189 tons, a decrease of 318,829 on the week, but an increase of 130,838 on the year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 26,054,496 tons, compared to 21,938,590 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 119,325 tons. That’s a decline of 46,465 tons from the week before and a drop of 151,727 from a year ago. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 1,110,671 tons, compared to 3,104,447 in 2015/16.
