The No. 1-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team rebounded Sunday after being shut out the previous night and defeated No. 2 Minnesota, 8-2, in front of a sellout crowd at LaBahn Arena in Madison in the second game of a back-to-back border battle with the Gophers.

Senior forward Sarah Nurse led the way with her second hat trick of the season for the Badgers (15-2-1, 11-2-1-1 WCHA), scoring twice in the first period, starting with the first goal of the game 3 minutes 13 seconds into the frame.

Minnesota junior Caitlin Reilly tied the score just under 3 minutes later, but the Badgers responded with three more goals in the first period before the Gophers (14-2-2, 12-2-2-2) were able to get on the board again.

UW junior Baylee Wellhausen recorded her third multi-goal game of the season with a pair of goals.
