College basketball: FSW's Tremell Murphy named national player of week

Florida SouthWestern State men's basketball player Tremell Murphy has been named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week.

Murphy received the NJCAA Region 8 honor earlier in the week.

The Griffin, Indiana, native helped the Bucs go 2-0 by averaging 27.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.0 steals. FSW is ranked third in the FCSAA NJCAA Region 8 coaches poll, and plays its home opener Tuesday at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
