Rich Alloway named to GOP Senate leadership

Staff report

HARRISBURG --  State Sen. Richard Alloway II, R-Chambersburg, was re-elected by his colleagues this week to serve as Senate Majority Caucus Secretary for the 2017-18 legislative session.

Sen. RIchard Alloway II, R-Chambersburg

Republican senators first elected him to the leadership position in 2014. The caucus secretary oversees all executive nominations submitted to the Senate for confirmation. Alloway will coordinate the review of the background and experience of nominees and ensure that proper documentation is submitted.

Alloway in 2013 was appointed to his first leadership position with the Senate GOP caucus. He chaired the Senate Republican Campaign Committee, which raised money and recruited candidates throughout Pennsylvania to run for the state Senate .

Alloway was unopposed this year in his re-election to a third term representing the 33rd District, which includes Franklin, Adams and parts of York counties.

In the Election of 2016 Republicans strengthened their majority in the Pennsylvania Senate to the largest level in 66 years.
