Michael Robinson, 26, was charged Oct. 27 with sexual assault of a student by school staff.

A school safety aide at Riverside High School in Milwaukee Public Schools already facing gun and drug charges is accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old student, according to a criminal complaint.

Michael A. Robinson, a 26-year-old school safety officer at Riverside High School, was charged Thursday with sexual assault of a student by school staff. The student told Milwaukee police that Robinson exchanged phone numbers with her in September and the two began texting and ultimately had sex at Robinson's apartment, the complaint says.

Robinson also faces new charges of bail jumping because he has pending cases of carrying a concealed weapon and possession with intent to deliver narcotics. He is due back in court Nov. 4 for a preliminary hearing and remained in Milwaukee County Jail Friday on $2,500 bail.

Prosecutors filed the weapons charge in May after Milwaukee police said they saw a large cloud of marijuana smoke coming from a car parked on Clark St. and found Robinson in the driver's seat. Robinson told officers he had a loaded Glock 9mm under the seat, which the officers recovered, and admitted he did not have a concealed-carry permit for the gun, court records show.

Then, in late June, Robinson was stopped by police on W. National Ave. and found to have marijuana and prescription drugs on him, including opiate pills with a street value estimated at $1,000, a criminal complaint states. Online court records show plea hearings have been scheduled in both the gun and drug cases.

Robinson is suspended without pay and the school district is cooperating with the Milwaukee Police Department, a Milwaukee Public Schools spokeswoman said. She said she could not comment further because of the ongoing investigation.
