Nebraska’s corn harvest reaches halfway mark

harvest-corn-case-ih-9-16Nebraska farmers are making good progress on their corn harvest, but soybeans continue to be a struggle.

According to the latest crop progress report, the corn harvest is 50 percent complete, slightly behind the five-year average of 54 percent.

Heavy morning dews continued to limit soybean harvest progress. Seventy-eight percent of soybeans have been harvested, compared to 88 percent normal.

Winter wheat condition rated 66 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and seven percent poor to very poor.
