Fillmore fire crews knocked down a playground fire Monday morning, officials said.

The blaze was reported just before 5:40 a.m. in the 600 block ofShiells Drive, between two preschools, authorities said. Fire officials said the structures were unoccupied at the time of the fire.

According to Fillmore fire officials, playground equipment, including a playhouse, plastic table, and bench, were engulfed. Flames reached approximately 15-feet high, and an adjacent building sustained damage due to the blaze, officials said.

Crews made quick work of the flames and called in a Ventura County fire investigator. A Fillmore Fire Department spokesman said the blaze was "suspicious" and is currently under investigation.

No injuries were reported, officials said.
