1-year old found safe after Amber Alert

An Amber Alert was canceled Sunday evening when a 1-year-old boy was found safe. 

At about 6 p.m., Taratino Carter's mom left her vehicle running with Carter in the rear seat while she went into the gas station at 5909 W. Good Hope Rd. While she was was inside the store, a suspect entered her vehicle and drove away with Carter in the vehicle, according to a news release from the Milwaukee Police Department

Shortly after the alert was issued, a citizen called to report that the vehicle described in the Amber Alert was parked in the 5600 Block of N. 39th St.

Officers arrived to find the child safe and sitting in the car seat. The mother was reunited with the boy shortly after, the news release said.

The Milwaukee Police Department continues to search for suspect(s) in the auto theft/abduction, according to the news release.
