National convention offers a unique learning experience

The National FFA Convention is an opportunity for students to learn about the diversity in agriculture.

The more than 60,000 FFA members in Indianapolis have a number of obvious shared interest – but their diverse backgrounds also provide a unique learning environment

Kaitlyn Seabloom of the Orion FFA chapter in Illinois says one of her most enjoyable experiences has been getting to talk with other FFA members from different parts of the country.  “They have a different aspect,” she says.  “They might have a livestock barn where they do stuff with the FFA but we don’t.  We have a greenhouse and a shop.  It’s really different to see what they do.  They also might have different contest than we do.”

For Gabriela Strobel of Wisconsin’s Sun Prairie FFA  the National FFA Convention helps members expand their horizons.  “By going to this – all the members that we brought here can see the potential they have and different things they could be doing,” she says.  “It gives them something to look forward to.”
