Two concealed carry permit-holders who recently purchased firearms have been charged in two separate Milwaukee shootings, one of which was fatal.

James Clinton Atterberry Jr., 26, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Ronnie McMillon Jr., 26. McMillon was shot shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of N. 38th St., according to a criminal complaint and Milwaukee police.

According to the complaint, Atterberry and McMillon, who had been staying at the same residence in Kenosha, began arguing about Atterberry having a gun.

The argument became more heated before Atterberry shot McMillon multiple times, according to the complaint.

In a separate case, Lillie J. Jones, 22, was charged with first-degree reckless injury for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old woman shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 5100 block of N. 31st St., according to a criminal complaint and Milwaukee police.

The two women were involved in an altercation at the nearby Onyx nightclub and, after they left, Jones shot the woman as the victim sat inside a car, according to the complaint that did not identify the victim.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.

Both Jones and Atterberry are concealed-carry permit holders who recently purchased handguns, Atterberry a .9 mm Glock, Jones a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson, according to the complaints.
