Hal Leonard buys music publisher Schaum

Hal Leonard Corp. said Monday it has purchased Mequon's Schaum Publications Inc., a 57-year-old publisher of instructional material for piano.

Leonard, based in Milwaukee, describes itself as the world's largest educational music publisher, with more than 200,000 titles in its catalog. The Schaum catalog includes some 700 titles, including the "Fingerpower" line.

Leonard did not disclose terms of the acquisition.
