The October Beauty Hit List

For the longest while I have been struggling with favourite product type posts - not to read but more to write. The problem is I change my mind constantly and for me to deem something a true favoured products, I need to find myself using and reaching for it fairly regularly for say six months or so - which a feature it does not make. Rather than the odd favourites post, I thought I'd maybe share the contents of my daily make-up bag on a monthly basis to both encourage you to try new products and dip into your existing stash a little more frequently? So let me share what I have been enjoying over the last few days and most likely what will be my fail safe products over the next few weeks.

The October Beauty Hit List

At the moment my go to combination is a blend of Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Ageing Foundation and a little of Sleek Make Up Barekissed Illuminator in Monaco; combined the two offer a high coverage, almost matte finish that isn't flat or heavy in appearance or formulation thanks to the addition of the liquid highlighter. If you are a fan of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation but would prefer something a little more hydrating and dare I say imperfection blurring, Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Ageing Foundation is the way to go.

Sure I could use one highlighter and stop there, but that is not my style. Oh no! I like to shimmer and glow like the best of them and currently gracing the high points of my face is Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Bold Illuminating Liquid Highlighter - a mouthful, I'll give you that but it's worth the dry mouth, once you see this baby sparkle. Unlike the vast majority of my highlighter collection this is both liquid and presented within a cushion like compact - much like the foundations of the same name. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Bold Illuminating Liquid Highlighter is a bright, metallic, true gold that blends effortlessly and catches all forms of light. The great thing about this highlighter is that it not only builds with ease but sheers out too - allowing it to look both natural and show stopping on all complexions.

Nothing in my opinion teams up with a gold toned highlighter than a warm, peachy blush and very much neglected within my stash - and unnecessarily so, may I add - is Benefit Majorette Blush. Not only does the shade perk up my entire complexion with next to no effort but it both comfortable and long wearing - it also doesn't hurt that I can apply it with my fingertips if pushed for time.

Now I know what you are thinking, Miss Sporty Insta Glow Bronzer in Blonde is just that - a bronzer but the warm, slightly orange tone of this face product works wonders when combined with blue eyes. I rather like that this isn't your typical matte bronzer, nor is it overly shimmer based, rather it is somewhere in the middle and as such it really dazzles when applied to the skin. Typically I dust this all over my eyelids, working a little extra product into my crease. To finish I load my lashes with Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara which is great for adding both volume and length without weighing down even the straightest of eyelashes, not to mention it doesn't half hold a curl.

If you further investigate one product from this post, please let it be the Paul and Joe Eyebrow Pen - simply put, it is nothing short of magical. As someone who has been plighted with blonde, sparse brows this gentle, water based, ink formulation is the product I have been missing all along. The super fine nib means you can gently draw in natural hairs, blend and generally fill the brows, free from worry of them ever looking over done or dare I say blocky. It truly is worth every penny if you prefer a more natural appearance in regards to your brows and as an added bonus it does not smudge, smear or budge unless you want it to.

I'll be the first to admit, I'm not the most adventurous person in regards to lip products - I know what I like and tend to stick to it, which more often than not tends to be rosy nude hues. My current lip plumping combination is Jordana Eayliner for Lips in Rock n Rose and Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour in Seduction - together they create a modern pink based nude, that gives the illusion of fuller lips that frankly in most instances never goes wrong.

If any product above grabs your attention, do feel free to nudge me via the comments and I'll be happy to provide a full review in the coming weeks.
