Preventing West Nile in horses

West Nile virus, recently confirmed in Ohio, is fatal to both humans and horses. Dr. Bill Saville with the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine says the virus can cause many different symptoms in horses.

Dr. Saville says the severity of the symptoms can differ depending on the horse itself. He tells Brownfield Eastern Equine Encephalitis is a similar disease and also has a higher mortality rate. He says to always consult with a vet is you suspect an issue with your horse.
