REIS to meet

The latest initiatives to stimulate and support commercial development will be presented by John Boland, Director of the Lee County Economic Development Office (EDO), at the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS) Oct. 11 luncheon. Boland will also discuss the EDO's role in site selection and fast-track permitting and explain the DevelopLee program to encourage development in Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, and the MLK Corridor. The meeting is will begin at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Magnolia Room at Pelican Preserve's Town Center, on Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard, one mile east of Interstate 75, Exit 136, Fort Myers. Admission is $30 for members and $40 for guests, which includes lunch. Reservations are required by Oct. 5 at the REIS website: www.reis-swfl.org.

10-year anniversary

Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), is celebrating 10 years of providing emergency construction services and repairs to the elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged homeowners of Lee County. To date, Builders Care has provided more than $4 million of services at no cost to homeowners in Lee County with more than 290 projects completed. The mission of Builders Care is to provide emergency home repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. Building partners and donors are always needed to help address emergency situations across the county.
