Two more Missouri counties qualify as Agri-Ready

There are two additional Agri-Ready Counties in the state.  Marion County in northeast Missouri, and Scott County in southeast Missouri were granted Agri-Ready County Designation by Missouri Farmers Care (MFC). The designation identifies counties that create an environment conducive to agricultural opportunity and growth.

Scott County Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger says agriculture drives the county’s economy and it’s why they applied for the Agri-Ready County Designation.  Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode says agriculture is the backbone of Marion County’s economy and he looks forward to opportunities that the Agri-Ready County Designation provides.

In addition to a supportive environment for agriculture, qualifying for the Agri-Ready Designation requires that counties have no ordinances regulating agriculture more stringent than state law.

Scott and Marion Counties join nine other Missouri counties that have the designation.
