The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team finished in a tie for seventh of 21 teams with a score of 882, after the final round of the George Mason Patriots Intercollegiate at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Virginia on Monday.

Old Dominion won with a three-round total of 849, followed by Eastern Kentucky (851), George Mason (870), Towson (877), Longwood (879), Drexel (880), Fairleigh Dickinson and FGCU (882).

Fairleigh Dickinson had 297 in the opening round, 289 in the second and 296 in the final. FGCU shot 294 in the first round, 293 in the second and 295 in the final.

Keaton Jones led the Eagles, finishing in a tie for third of 112 golfers, with a score of 210 (69-71-70). Andrew Potter shot a 224 (72-73-79), Casper Howells carded a 226 (78-76-72), Brent Fredericksen finished with a 228 (76-73-79) and Grant Renegar scored a 229 (77-78-74) for FGCU.

"Keaton (Jones) played really well again today, and it's especially nice to see him put three very consistent rounds together," FGCU coach Eric Booker said. "Overall we're starting to progress slowly, but the guys are having difficulty closing out rounds. That sometimes can take some time to learn, but hopefully that starts to occur over our final three fall tournaments."

FGCU is at the Florida Atlantic match-play event in Boca Raton from Saturday through Sunday. The format will put golfers head-to-head over the course of the two days.
