Dry weather finally settles into the upper Midwest

On the Plains, dry weather has returned to most areas that were recently soaked by heavy rain. However, showers linger across central, southern, and eastern Texas. Meanwhile, a Frost Advisory was in effect early Monday across portions of the central High Plains.

Across the Corn Belt, dry weather has finally returned to Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, following multiple rounds of heavy rain. However, residual lowland flooding persists in portions of the upper Mississippi Valley. Currently, scattered showers stretch from Michigan to southeastern Missouri.

In the South, showers and thunderstorms in the vicinity of a cold front are entering the northwestern fringe of the region—including western sections of Kentucky and Tennessee. Meanwhile, locally heavy showers are causing flash flooding in south-central Texas. Elsewhere, warm weather is promoting summer crop maturation and harvesting, although many areas of the interior Southeast are in need of rain.

In the West, warmth is building eastward from the Pacific Coast States, favoring summer crop harvesting and winter wheat planting. Lingering showers are confined to southern sections of Arizona and New Mexico.
