Fresh Sugar Cream Lip Treatment

The new Fresh Sugar Cream Lip Treatment collection is exactly my kind of product! A proper, balmy balm with a decent colour tint and a smack of sheen that looks and feels completely comfortable. At the best of times I’m a massive fan of this brand, so without wishing to be too gushy, they’ve gone above and beyond on these in balm-comfort terms.

From bottom to top in the swatch: Pink, Buff and Blush. There is shimmer in all of them – it’s low level rather than full on but if you’re not a shimmer fan, it’s a shame there isn’t one that doesn’t have it. Maybe that’s next. Although the colours look intense in the swatch, they’re more of a colour wash – a hit of the shades – than anything else and the balm feel outlasts the tint. However, a combination of oils (blackcurrant, jojoba, grapeseed and avocado) with vitamins E and C give lips a dewy look and feel. It’s not balmy alternative to gloss or lipstick because the pigment level isn’t the same but it is one of the loveliest balms (it jolly well should be at £19) for anyone who doesn’t get along with mineral based balm that can be more drying than hydrating. It’s also – thankfully – got no flavour. Flavoured balms are fun but you end up licking your lips and making everything worse, even if you don’t realise you’re doing it and I’m not really getting any scent from them either. This is a big bonus from me because lip products that are heavily scented (usually mint or vanilla) drive me mad. Final point, there isn’t a weird after-taste that you get from a lot of lip products.
