Milwaukee Police Saturday were investigating an accident involving a stolen van whose teenage occupants were suspected in a strong-arm robbery.

The accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. at N. 51st St. and W. Villard Ave. According to police, a 2004 Honda van stolen Friday in Milwaukee was headed west on Villard when it ran a red light and collided with a southbound 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson glanced off an eastbound Milwaukee County Transit System bus.

Five of the occupants in the stolen van fled the scene, with police locating and arresting two teen girls. Police said shortly before the accident the group was involved in a strong-arm robbery, taking a purse from a woman at the Walmart at N. 103rd St. and W. Silver Spring Drive. The purse and other evidence were recovered inside the stolen van, police said.

The four occupants of the Tucson, two women, a 14-year-old boy and 2-month-old girl, suffered minor injuries in the accident. Two of the passengers on the bus also suffered minor injuries, police said.
