China imposes anti-dumping duties on US DDGs

China says it’s imposing anti-dumping duties on US dried distillers grains (DDGs) effective immediately.  The Ministry of Commerce announced a nearly 34-percent duty, claiming shipments of US DDGs damaged China’s domestic industry.

A joint statement from the US Grains Council, the Renewable Fuels Association, and Growth Energy says they have worked closely with China’s livestock industry stakeholders to educate them about the benefits of both imported and domestic DDGs and they are confident US DDGs are not causing or threatening injury to Chinese producers.

The move comes just 10 days after the US filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization challenging China’s support of that country’s wheat, rice, and corn growers.

China is the world’s largest buyer of DDGs and almost all of its imports come from the US.
