NYC Bombing Suspect Taken Into Custody After Shootout
Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old man wanted by police for his suspected role in a bombing Saturday in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, has been taken into custody.
Police had also linked the explosion on Saturday in Seaside Heights to Rahami, as well as two devices found in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Rahami. Twenty-nine people were injured in Chelsea.
Police say Rahami was identified using surveillance video in Chelsea.
Rahami, a naturalized American citizen originally from Afghanistan who lives in Elizabeth, was wounded during a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey. Two officers were also shot, one in the chest, though spared serious injury by a bullet proof vest, the other in the hand. Â
The extent of Rahami's injuries have not been reported. He was taken away in an ambulance.
