Law and Order Actor Will Run for NYC Mayor in 2017

An actor who wants to bring his “Law & Order” experience to City Hall says he’s going to run for Mayor next year and he’s starting with a $1  million warchest.

Darren Dione Aquino, who played a disabled cop on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and a mobster on “The Sopranos” said that his cousin John Ferolito was ready to provide the startup funds for his Republican Campaign.

Ferolito is a Co-Founder of the Arizona Beverage Co., maker of Arizona Iced Tea.

Aquino, who launched an Advocacy Group for Disabled Veterans, said he would register Tuesday with the Campaign Finance Board.

New York City Campaign rules prohibit Mayoral candidates from accepting individual donations of more than $4,950, but a Campaign expert said that if the $1 million were given as a personal gift with no strings attached, Aquino could claim to be using his own funds.

Others who might challenge Mayor de Blasio in 2017 include:

- Harlem Pastor and former New York Jet player Michel Faulkner
- Real-estate Exec Paul Massey Jr.
- Nonprofit Exec Josh Thompson
- City Comptroller Scott Stringer
- Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
- Brooklyn Rep. Hakeem Jeffries
