Milwaukee County residents are invited to express their priorities for future park and recreation programs at any of nine public meetings scheduled in September and October, County Executive Chris Abele said Wednesday.

The meetings and a separate public survey are part of a "Parks with Purpose" planning effort to be completed at the end of this year. The theme emphasizes that parks are provided to meet community needs, Parks Director John Dargle Jr. said.

Recommendations will help shape a 10-year parks master plan for programs and maintenance of facilities as well as a revised park and open space plan with goals for preserving natural areas and distribution of parks and recreational facilities through the year 2050.

Each meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The schedule: Sept. 13, Kosciuszko Park Community Center, 2201 S. 7th St.; Sept. 14, Lake Park Marcia Coles Community Room, 3133 E. Newberry Blvd.; Sept. 15, Wilson Park Pavilion, 1601 W. Howard Ave.; Sept. 20, Brown Deer Park Golf Clubhouse, 7625 N. Range Line Road; Sept. 21, Gordon Park Pavilion, 2828 N. Humboldt Blvd.; Sept. 22, Dineen Park Pavilion, 6601 W.
