US Marshals announce construction for Farmington building

FARMINGTON, N.M. — The U.S. Marshals Service says construction has begun on a new building in Farmington to expand resources for law enforcement in the Four Corners area.

Authorities say deputy federal marshals have been assigned to Farmington for the past six years and the building will create a permanent working space for them. Deputy U.S. Marshal Benjamin Segotta, a spokesman for the agency in Albuquerque, said in a release that construction on the Farmington building began this month and is expected to be completed by January.

The U.S. Marshal Service is tasked with pursuing dangerous fugitives and taking them into custody.

U.S. Marshal Conrad Candelaria thanks New Mexico's congressional delegation for securing funding for the office that he says was a much needed to better serve the area.
