A 24-year-old Milwaukee woman accused of fatally shooting another woman earlier this month faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted of first-degree reckless homicide.

Police tape lines a street in Milwaukee.

Queena J. Johnson-Grimes was charged with shooting and killing Paris McDaniel, 32, at 2730 W. Lisbon Ave. on Aug. 14.

According to the criminal complaint:

A witness told Milwaukee Police Detective Timothy Graham that he and Johnson-Grimes left a liquor store and started walking through an alley between N. 28th and N. 29th streets near Lisbon Ave.

McDaniel, whom the witness saw at the liquor store, yelled at the pair and told them not to walk in the alley. As the pair continued to walk, McDaniel continued behind them.

Before entering the next alley, Johnson-Grimes took a gun from her purse and pointed it at McDaniel, who was unarmed. Johnson-Grimes told McDaniel not to walk up on them and McDaniel replied, “I want to get popped.” Jonhson-Grimes then shot McDaniel and McDaniel fell to the ground.

An autopsy revealed McDaniel died from a gunshot to her chest, according to the Milwaukee Medical Examiner's officer.

Johnson-Grimes is being held at the Milwaukee County Jail on a $500,000 bail.
