Minor league baseball: Romero leads Fort Myers Miracle to sweep of Palm Beach Cardinals

Fernando Romero pitched seven scoreless innings, leading the Fort Myers Miracle to a 1-0 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals at Hammond Stadium on Thursday night. The victory gives Fort Myers a three-game home sweep of Palm Beach.

Romero gave up two hits and struck out nine in his seven innings of work to pick up the win for the Miracle. Confesor Lara earned the save, allowing one hit, while striking out one in the ninth.

Sandy Alcantara took the loss for the Cardinals, giving up the lone run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Christian Ibarra hit a single in the bottom of the seventh, that brought home Joe Maloney for the game's lone run.

Fort Myers (66-63, 32-28 Florida State League) heads to Jupiter for a three-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads, starting Friday at 6:30 p.m.
