Illamasqua Extinct Collection

Ooh heck.. there is some unfortunate lighting going on here with this model’s chin – it’s distracting me hugely! Illamasqua is known for challenging beauty perceptions and they’re certainly doing that with the Extinct Collection. I only have three items but they’re a good representation of the collection which has a very definite viewpoint. Unravelling a slightly over-complicated mission statement on the collection, I take Extinct to mean a stand against conformity – that we don’t all have to look the same and that the demise of difference would leave a poorer world. I’m so on-side for that and this collection couldn’t be less Kardishified if it tried.

Starting with the Powder Eye Shadow in pale copper Jubliance – it’s beautifully soft, burnished and the more you work it over with a fingertip or brush the more the gleam intensifies. There’s a sister shade in a blue/white frost which personally I might find a challenge, but this one – yes please!

From a galaxy far, far away…! I love this glitter hit purple shade (called Remains) and it’s going on my fingertips as quickly as I can get it there! There’s another nail polish shade called Quagga which sounds interesting in a duo toned green.

In the main picture, you can see Pure Pigment in Axolotl (holo blue) which is very, very pretty. Personally, I can’t be bothered with pigment – there are enough high shimmer shadows around that messing with loose glitter seems above and beyond the call, but if you don’t mind it, it is ultra twinkly. Swatched above are Jubilance and Axolotl.

The Illamasqua Extinct Collection seems so exciting in a sea of nudes, corals and contour sticks and it feels like the brand is back to doing what it does best – challenging and bucking the trends. Go you, Illamasqua!
