Without being predictable, Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream is exactly what you’d expect from Charlotte. It’s voluptuous, heady and super sexy. When I went to the launch, Charlotte was full of stories of friends who’d worn it being stopped in the street or cab drivers wanting to leave the central window open because their passenger smelled so delicious…. ok, so I was cynical. BUT, even though this fragrance isn’t to my taste especially, there’s something about it and enough that the friend I was having dinner with after the launch couldn’t stop saying how lovely I smelled! I had a few moments with Charlotte who said I wasn’t wearing nearly enough and pretty much drenched me in it – but it had the promised effect! My friend Gemma couldn’t stop smelling my arm!
When I say that Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream is sexy, so it should be – one of the key ingredients is a synthetic compound called Hedione which reacts with your own pheromones. Add to that tuberose, jasmine, rose and amber and you really do have something special going on and I can’t see this being anything other than a big success.
The bottle is shaped exactly like an old style flacon and because, according to Charlotte, scent is the key to attraction, there is a symbolic key on the box (and I believe you get a little key at counters). One of the other reasons that Charlotte Tilbury Scent of A Dream is just going to fly off the shelves is that Kate Moss is the face. I’m not in the least bothered about ‘faces’ but I’ve seen the TV ad and did actually have (little) tears in my eyes after watching it. It’s just quite emotional in some way that I can’t explain other than to say that Kate is a great friend of Charlotte’s and I felt we got to see the real Kate. She was very free…
You will have to judge for yourselves whether it’s sexy – that’s a very personal thing – but it’s built to for seduction and if it makes you feel like the most desirable, sensual woman in the world, then the job is done.
The fragrance will be available from August 15th at the Charlotte Tilbury boutique, CT.com, Selfridges and Brown Thomas and prices are: 30ml – £49, 50ml – £68, 100ml – £96. I think the streets will be hanging with the dark, powdery burst of amber and flowers when everyone starts to sample this – it’s not a shy fragrance – so please let me know what you think of it if you have a spritz!

I’m not sure I would buy something that will be so obvious but I remain in awe of Charlotte and how she has created this brand and the speed with which she’s grown it. The sheer size of it now compared to launch is breathtaking. She’s a very, very astute lady.
I totally agree Amanda. It’s impressive.
Mr sample just arrived from CT…..I don’t like it. It’s very bitter and tart on the nose. No soft edges or femininity in it for me. Which saves me a dilemma as I also want to try McQueen & Tom’s Orchid Soleil before I invest in a new perfume. Sadly it won’t be this one. Xx
See what other people think of it on you… I think you’ll be surprised! McQueen is much, much more floral feminine so sounds like it would suit you much better.
I’m a florals girl. My go to is Jasmin Rouge by Tom Ford. Xx
Hmm.. McQueen is definitely floral but it’s also very sweet.. if you have a nose for First by Van Cleef & Arpels, it’s along those lines.
Hi Jane …..I ended up with the McQueen Parfum, the black and gold bottle had me in it’s thrall but the perfume is insanely gorgeous but I also got a 50ml in Tom Ford’s Orchid Soleil which I suspect is quite similar given it also has jasmine and pink peppercorn but given that the McQueen was £285 for 50ml it is definitely a special occasion Parfum whereas the TF I will use in the day more liberally. I love getting new perfume for a new season. It’s just gives me such a lift. Both are very floral but the Mcquen is definitely more evening floral if you get me?
Have you heard about the Lalique / Tom Ford collaboration. Oh my……heavenly. Check google & Neiman Marcus / Lalique / Tom Ford / Black Orchid. I’m sold. Xx
ooh will take a look.. thanks for the head’s up!
Oh Lord, I fear for myself and anyone else who suffers scent-induced migraines, this sounds like it could be quite the trigger!
Hopefully there will be more fragrances to come though, and like Charlotte’s ‘looks’ there will be one for everyone.
I suffer from scent induced migraines – Poision is one of the worst! The headache is instant! I just purchased this fragrance in Selfridges after spritzing myself and walking around for an hour. It’s very strong, one spray and I could smell it clearly on myself (and still can 3 hours later). I have to say it’s like no fragrance I own but is so mature and sultry. It’s a fragrance that will be either loved or hated by those who smell it! I own molecule 01 and I’m not a fan of it on its own (I have to layer it) but it’s gets me a lot of compliments so I hope this CT fragrance will have the same effect!
ooh well do let me know!
“.. tears in my ears…” made me chuckle 🙂
oh Yasmine.. thank goodness for you! That has to be my most embarrassing typo yet!!! EYES… I meant, EYES!!
Haha, it was a good typo!
This sounds fabulous! I’m not the biggest lover of a lot of heady fragrances so I’m not sure I’ll be the right wearer for this but I’m definitely going to give it a sniff if I get chance!

Oh DARLING you simply MUST try this, you’ll smell so AMAZING everyone’s going to EAT YOU UP!
Or something like that!
I’ll definitely be giving it a sniff as I can’t resist knowing what it’s like. And I do love jasmine. The name’s a bit of a snore (pun unintentional!).
lol.. this is a weird one.. I don’t like the smell on me, but everyone else loves the smell on me – so in my case it’s a question of smelling delicious for others which is quite an unusual thing especially when it is remarked upon!
Yes, I imagine it’s a bit like wearing clothes you feel aren’t your style but everyone else says you look great…
I don’t think I could wear a scent I truly didn’t like though. You’re the one that has to smell it all day!
Charlotte is opening a counter in my House of Fraser shortly will wait to smell it then. Not a fan of tuberose and jasmine go sickly sweet on me.
This sounds as if it is exactly my kind of fragrance! I will be eagerly awaiting the US launch.
Oh I really want to smell this now! Thanks for sharing the news and reviewing it for us 🙂 x

I love the bottle and can’t wait to try this fragrance. Thank you for sharing!!
I got a sample in the post and …. oh my. I absolutely love it. The name is TERRIBLE but the juice is just incredible. I was on a no buy after acquiring a Byredo and TF Private Blend in relatively quick succession but I may just have to stray now. It’s completely addictive.
