Lowest-paid governor’s wife now waitressing

Times are tough, it seems, in the governor’s mansion in Maine.

Paul LePage is the lowest-paid governor in the nation, taking in only $70,000 per year, and now his wife has taken a summer job waiting tables.

Ann LePage is working at McSeagull’s restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, serving up such delights as the “Lobster Chicken Bomb” and “Off The Wall Cheeseburger Pizza.”

She worked her first double shift Thursday and said waitressing is "something I've always, always wanted to do," the AP reports. She is also saving up her tips to buy a new Toyota RAV4.

The governor told a recent town hall that the gig helps “supplement” his salary. LePage had tried unsuccessfully this year to increase his successor’s salary to $150,000.
