Rain across parts of Minnesota prevented some farmers from finishing soybean planting last week.

USDA’s latest crop progress report says the first cutting of alfalfa was also interrupted by excess moisture, although warm temperatures allowed for rapid crop growth.

More than 90 percent of Minnesota’s corn has emerged, nearly two weeks ahead of normal.

The condition of the crop improved six percentage points to 71 percent good to excellent.

Soybean planting is 95 percent complete, with nearly 70 percent of the crop emerged.

The cutting of alfalfa hay was 38 percent done as of Sunday, 12 days ahead of both last year and the five year pace.
