ALAMOGORDO – Lincoln National Forest offices will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

The Supervisor’s Office located in Alamogordo, Smokey Bear Ranger District Office in Ruidoso, Sacramento Ranger District Office in Cloudcroft and the Guadalupe Ranger District Office located in Carlsbad, will be closed on Monday.

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday morning.

No fire restrictions are in place on the Lincoln National Forest, but visitors are reminded to be careful with any source of fire.

When building campfires don’t forget these tips: visitors should build their campfire in an open area that is free of flammable material - not in dry grass or pine needles - and don’t build it under trees, never leave their campfire unattended, keep a shovel and water close by, and before leaving their campsite or picnic area, make sure their campfire is dead out.

Lincoln National Forest spokeswoman Loretta Benavidez said we want our visitor’s holiday and forest visit to be safe and memorable – share the road and drive defensively, be a good neighbor whether visiting the Lincoln National Forest or a nearby community or village during their travels.
