MAC Chris Chang
MAC Chris Chang

I’ve seen a lot of beautiful things this week, but nothing on the scale of the MAC Chris Chang collection that launches on 16th June. I don’t think you even need to know who Chris Chang is (a Chinese designer who takes her inspirations from anything from Qing dynasty homage dramas to art and poetry – definitely head to her brand, Poesia, site to see past collections and some creepy crawlies HERE) to fall completely in love with this packaging. It’s even better in the flesh than any of the pictures I’ve seen.

Starting off with three out of the five lipsticks on their way: Gold XIXI (yellow lustre), Cloud Gait (pastel turquoise lustre) and DDDevilish (pastel hot pink matte).

I have never wanted to wear such unwearable colours as much as I do right now. Yellow lips? Okay then. Turqouise? Don’t mind if I do.

I know that some people will truly be able to give these the showcase they deserve in the wear – Chris Chang is a highly individual and creative character fuelled by colour and there are going to be a whole host of similar people the world over who can make this rock. Probably not me over in my little corner of South East London, though! They’re £17 each.

Next up, Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (£22.50) alongside Eyeshadow in Pale Pipa (matte, £14) and Cream Colour Base in Peony Pavilion (£17.50).

And, Cream Colour Base in Sock It XIQU (a dirty lavender) and Eyeshadow in Electric Mandarin (matte).

I think MAC collectors will go crazy for this – it’s such a joyful collection, full of acid soaked colour and frenetic intricacy. If you’re going for any one thing as a collector, the Pressed Powder is the product with no clear circle in the lid so you get the full design, uninterupted. Oh, and by the way, if you have anything stashed away from the MAC Barbie collection, polish it up and put it on display – apparently that’s the most coveted range by collectors of both Barbie and MAC; you could be sitting on a small fortune! I’m wrapping each piece up carefully (except the creme blushes) and putting them away in my box of beauty treasures.

Availability for the MAC Chris Chang collection is: MAC Carnaby St, MAC Covent Garden and www.maccosmetics.co.uk.
