Last year, Mother's Day was a blur.

I was only two months into motherhood and too sleep-deprived to enjoy it. Plus, we were on the go for most of the day, trying to pack in as much as possible.

*rookie mistake*

By the time we sat down for dinner, Caroline had hit her witching hour... HARD. Poor Stephen spent the majority of the meal walking her up and down the sidewalk to try and calm her, while I scarfed down food at our table all by myself.

It was pathetic, you guys.

This year, we're taking a different approach. We're going for brunch (of course), but that's the only thing on our schedule (as far as I know). Mother's Day is likely going to wind up being super low-key, and I'm really looking forward it.

And, if I'm spoiled with gifts like these, then so be it...

Oversized Sunglasses for Women | Old Navy - $12.00

Confession: I only own one pair of sunglasses. Now that Caroline has discovered how much fun it is to take them off my head (and put them in her mouth), I'm realizing that it's probably a good idea to buy a few more pairs in case she breaks them. At a price like this, how could I not?

Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat by Chrissy Teigen | Amazon - $14.99

Another confession: I'm a little obsessed with Chrissy Teigen right now, and I've been dying to pick up a copy of her new cookbook. Since it's been a really long time since I've bought a new book, of any kind, for myself, this would be a treat.

Hello Darling Stationery by Rifle Paper Co.CASA.com - $17.60

Even though it's harder to find time the time to do it, I love dropping cards in the mail to friends and family members to let them know I'm thinking of them. When I spotted these online, I decided it wouldn't be such a bad thing to replenish my supply.

'Americana Palmera' Espadrille Slip-On by TOMSNordstrom - $59.00

Seriously, you guys... My shoe situation is embarrassing. My go-to flats are falling apart and the adorable heels aren't a practical option when trying to corral my toddler. While I have sneakers, they're all running shoes that require lacing. Slip-on shoes would be a much better choice, and I love these espadrilles for spring/summer.

Fairmount Square Slim Bee Wristlet by Kate Spade New York | Macy's - $68.00

My current wristlet is looking pretty shabby these days. I've had it forever and desperately need to replace it with something a little less meh. Why not go with something cheerful like this striped beauty?

Frieling French Press Ultimo 17oz ~ Insulated Stainless Steel Mirror Finish Coffee Press | Amazon - $88.53

Stephen and I love our French press, but the 8-cup model that we have isn't cutting it anymore. I'd love to upgrade it to something that can hold more coffee and keep it warmer for longer.

Petite Vintage Pajama Set | J.Crew - $95.00

In keeping with the trend of needing to replace items in my wardrobe, having a cozy pair of pajamas to climb into at the end of the day would be sooooo niiiiice.

Obviously, this Mother's Day Gift Guide is full of things that fit my personal tastes and needs. While my suggestions may not be appropriate for every mother out there, I'm hoping they inspire you as you continue on your quest to find your mom The Perfect Gift!

What did I miss? What gifts would YOU add to my list? Let me know in the comments... Your recommendations may be featured in next year's Mother's Day Gift Guide!
