Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to discuss presidential strategy on Sunday talk shows

WASHINGTON — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, hoping to derail Donald Trump's increasingly inevitable path to the GOP presidential nomination, will make the rounds on the Sunday talk shows.

Cruz, who named former rival Carly Fiorina as his running mate Wednesday, is trying to prevent Trump from capturing the 1,237 delegates needed to become the nominee before the GOP holds its convention in Cleveland in July. Cruz is mathematically eliminated from being able to secure the nomination himself before the convention but he can go a long way to stopping Trump's efforts if he wins the Indiana primary Tuesday.

Trump has 996 delegates while Cruz has 565. Indiana has 57 Republicans delegates at stake. Most polls show Trump with a slight lead.
