Officials of Mason City, Iowa say they are on the verge of landing a new state-of-the-art hog processing facility.

According to the Mason City Globe Gazette, officials declined to name the company involved but indicated it is an out-of-state firm and that it will be the company’s first venture into pork processing.

The potential slaughter capacity is also unknown, but officials say the plant is expected to employ two-thousand workers in its first two years. They say an official announcement is expected later this month after more details have been worked out.
