Powder report: Pleasant, sunny skiing weekend ahead

Ski Apache boasts a 79 inch base with 139 inches of total snowfall for the year.

Mark your calendars for the Big Mountain Vertical Challenge coming up Mar. 5. The challenge is a race to acquire the most vertical feet in a day. Racers must have GPS technology on their phone to prove vertical feet scaled. Individual victor can win a season pass. Teams must consist of three and include a female, a snowboarder and an individual under 20-years-old. Teams can win $500.

Also coming up Mar. 13 is the Pond Skim and Beach Bod contest. Contestants must make one run in beach attire and parade on the plaza. Contest winners will then judge the pond skim.

Ski Apache

Friday: Expect sunny skies, with a high near 55 degrees and northwest winds at 5 to 10 miles-per-hour.

Saturday: There will be sunny skies and a high 53 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph

Sunday: Morning clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies for the afternoon with a high of 48 degrees. Winds will be from northwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Monday: Enjoy abundant sunshine with a high of 48 degrees and northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.
