Quarterly grain stocks up on year

The USDA reports corn, soybean, and wheat stocks on December 1st, 2015 were above the previous year’s levels.

Corn stocks came out at 11.212 billion bushels, up slightly from December 1st, 2014. On farm stocks were down 4%, while off farm supplies were up 6%. The indicated disappearance from September through November of 2015 was 4.12 billion pounds, compared to 4.24 billion during the same period in 2014.

Quarterly soybean stocks were pegged at 2.715 billion bushels, 7% larger than a year ago, with on farm supplies 8% higher and off farm stocks up 7%. The indicated quarterly disappearance of 1.41 billion bushels was down 6% on the year.

Quarterly wheat stocks were reported at 1.738 billion bushels, a 14% increase from a year ago. On farm stocks were 6% higher and off farm supplies were up 17%. The indicated disappearance for the quarter was 359 million bushels, down 5% from last year.

The next set of quarterly stocks data is out March 31st.
