Computer issues delay hog data

Computer issues at a major packer delayed the release of hog prices on Monday but the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) says the issue has been resolved. In a statement Monday, the AMS said its mission is to release timely and accurate data and they were aware the release of only partial swine data does not help the hog industry. The problem was resolved late Monday evening and AMS released yesterday’s information Tuesday morning.

Barrows and gilts in the national report closed .81 lower at 50.08 weighted average on a carcass basis.
