Show-and-Tell Sunday: A Change, A Break, and Christmas

I have the entire week leading up to Christmas off from work! I’ll be baking and cooking and wrapping gifts. I’ll be spending time with family. In between, I have some reading lined up and I hope to do some writing. I’ve got a few reviews to catch up, and some end-of-year pieces to prepare…but when they’re done, I won’t be posting them here.
I’m taking a few days off from the blog in order to move it to its new home. After nearly nine years and almost 2400 posts(!), I’m finally making the move to WordPress.org and going self-hosted! I’m working with Ashley from NoseGraze to make the transition to The 3 R’s Blog‘s new home on Book Host–she’s handling the migration this week, so after today things will go quiet till that’s all done. I’ve been doing some setup on the new site in the meantime, and wanted to give you a sneak peek.

Some things won’t change–like the URL, www.3rsblog.com, and the header–and some things that do change may not be obvious to visitors. I’m a little nervous about leaving the comfy familiarity of Blogger, but I’m excited about the new possibilities and options on WordPress, including the Ultimate Book Blogger plugin (which was a big incentive for the move, in all honesty).
Today, we’re going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (I will see it again tomorrow, but with different people.) Winchester isn’t coming, although he was quite curious to meet Chewbacca.

I should be back posting next week, assuming the move goes smoothly. I’ll probably on social media in the meantime, but just in case I don’t see you between now and then…Merry Christmas!

  1. Hmmm. The site looks a little blank 😉 but seriously (folks 🙂 ), it looks good. It’s always good to refresh your blog after a while. I had to do a little last night with the way mine appears on mobile devices and still am fine-tuning it. Enjoy your break. I’ll be off for a couple of days this week and a couple next week and while I’d like to say I plan on doing some reading, I’ll be honest that I’ll probably be Netflix binge-watching.

    1. I’ve been mulling this change for more than a year, and with my upcoming week off–and traffic drops around the holidays–I decided it was as good a time as any to make the jump. Enjoy your holiday, however you spend it!

  2. What a blessing to have the week of Christmas off! 🙂 And your tree is SO lovely!! Good luck with the move and enjoy the holiday reading!!
