After three-consecutive declines; an increase at the Global Dairy Trade auction today (Tuesday). The overall index gained 3.6 percent.   Lactose was up 1.7%; anhydrous milk fat increased 2.3%; skim milk powder gained 3.2%; whole milk powder increased 5.3% and butter was 5.7% higher. Cheddar cheese declined 1.5%; rennet casein lost 4.3% and butter milk powder fell 5.6% from the previous sale.

Volume was 28,000 metric tons; the smallest amount offered for sale since the June 16th auction.

Conducted on the first and third Tuesdays of the month; the Global Dairy Trade auction offers eight different dairy products from processors in the United States, Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand. The auction is seen as a price-discovery mechanism for global dairy prices.
