Final renewable fuel requirement “a step in the right direction”

Wisconsin Corn Growers Association president Casey Kelleher says final renewable fuel requirement announced by the EPA on Monday is a step in the right direction. While the number is below what was in the original statue from Congress, it is an increase from the preliminary rule issued last May and it could be zero.

Kelleher says his organization will shift its focus toward supporting the expansion of blend pumps in Wisconsin. “To offer consumers more clean, renewable fuel options.”

Wisconsin has nine ethanol plants producing more than 500 million gallons of ethanol per year with an economic impact of $4.2 billion.
