First lady Michelle Obama welcomes the official White House Christmas Tree to the White House.

Holiday season at the White House officially began Friday as first lady Michelle Obama received the White House Christmas tree.

The 18-1/2 foot Fraser fir will be on display in the Blue Room at the White House throughout the season.

The fir was grown by Jay and Glenn Bustard on their farm in Lansdale, Pa., and they presented the tree to the first lady. They entered a national contest to win White House display of their tree.

"Members of the National Christmas Tree Association have presented the official White House Christmas Tree for display in the Blue Room since 1966," the White House said in a statement.

Next week, President Obama will light the National Christmas Tree in the Ellipse near the White House.
